A consultation tells the tale

At Z Aesthetic Dermatology, Dr. Zedlitz does a skin exam and review of your medical history before recommending any cosmetic skin treatments. Additionally, this conversation is a good time to ask questions and discuss the appearance improvements you'd like to make.

The CO2 fractional laser

This innovative, handheld device delivers short pulses of focused light energy directly to your skin surfaces. The light smooths wrinkles and fine lines, lightens both spots and areas of hyperpigmentation, and tightens sagging skin along the brows, eyelids, chin, neck, and more.

To ensure comfort during the treatment, Dr. Zedlitz applies a numbing cream to all areas of the skin to be resurfaced. During the procedure, you may feel a slight sensation of heat, and after the procedure, you might notice some puffiness, redness, and tenderness. Additionally, you'll be lightly sedated for optimal relaxation.

Over the next few days, you'll notice the topical irritations resolve to reveal a brighter, firmer, and far less wrinkled skin surface. Due to how the cosmetic laser stimulates the production of elastic collagen in your skin, your face and other treated areas will look vibrant and full, with a youthful elasticity that you may have thought was long gone.

Toenail fungus

Also called onychomycosis, toenail fungus makes nails thick, yellow, and brittle. Caused by inherited foot structure, sweaty socks, and going barefoot in gym showers, toenail fungus is distressing and stubborn. Furthermore, over-the-counter creams and ointments often prove ineffective in the long term. This is why Dr. Z offers cosmetic laser treatment of onychomycosis in both her Baton Rouge and Prairieville office locations.

Laser treatment of your toenails takes about half an hour. Dr. Zedlitz will apply the laser light to each of your ten toes to fully eradicate the problem. Repeat sessions may be needed depending on your particular case. As your nails grow out, you'll notice clearer, more normal-looking nails.
