Curious About Botox?

Botox has a number of rumors surrounding it. Some people have started the rumor that it's a toxin applied under the skin. Others associate it with celebrities who've had a lot of work done. And the list of other misconceptions is quite lengthy. If you'd like to look younger but are a bit overcome by all the "information" about Botox out there, us at Z Aesthetic Dermatology, serving Prairieville, Baton Rouge, LA, and the surrounding areas, would like to shed some light. This may just make you want to schedule a consultation with our Dr. Ann Zedlitz to learn more.

General Information

First and foremost, Botox isn't necessarily a toxin. It is derived from Botulinum toxin, but it's a purified version. Therefore, it won't cause you to develop botulism.

It's an intramuscular injection, meaning our Prairieville Baton Rouge, LA, practitioner will inject it into the muscles. It targets the nerves in the muscles. Then, they no longer can contract. This means they remain in a relaxed state, which minimizes the appearance of crow's feet and other wrinkling, depending on where you desire it.

Botox is a temporary solution. It tends to last between three and six months, though some people have their results for longer. If you like the results, at the end of this time, you'll need to come in for another round of injections to maintain them.

Why Choose Botox

It's a very customizable approach. While you may have seen people who have Botox look incredibly youthful to the point it looks fake, this isn't the result for everyone. We can tailor the treatment approach to your desires so you don't have that drastic of results if you want. People then may notice something is different about you, but they won't know exactly what.

It's not an invasive procedure. You never receive any incisions when you get Botox. It's merely an injectable drug. Therefore, you won't have any scarring from the procedure.

Because it's non-surgical, there isn't a recovery time. You can go back to living your life as usual as soon as you leave our office.

Let's say you realize that Botox isn't for you. Since the results are temporary, you can let them fade. You're not stuck with something you're not happy with forever.

As a general rule, Botox is safe for most people. But to be on the safe side, you'll need to complete a comprehensive medical history report and talk with our physician first.

Dr. Zedlitz offers Botox to Prairieville, Baton Rouge, LA, and the surrounding regions. It gives you a more drastic change than many other treatments, but you can choose a more natural look.
