No matter what your skin type, using daily moisturizer and practicing year-round sun protection are essential to maintaining healthy, glowing skin. Customization is key, and Dr. Z can help you select products based on your individual skin care needs.

For Normal to Dry Skin:

Dr. Z's go-to moisturizing is definitely Radiant-C! It's rich in anti-oxidants with the key ingredient being Vitamin C. This potent anti-aging treatment nourishes, protects, and hydrates the skin. It moisturizes and increases the skin's resistance to environmental challenges. Truly a must-have!

For Combo Skin (Both Dry and Oily):

Dr. Z's best recommendation for the combo skin is Liquid Gold. The key ingredients are Vitamins A & E, and Chamomilla Extract. A dynamic veil for the skin with botanical extracts that provide a shield against the environment. It has a great silky finish, increases skin elasticity, and reduces inflammation while regenerating your skin.

For post-procedures:

Your face may need a little extra TLC after a procedure so Dr. Z recommends the Intense Moisture Cream. Key ingredients are hyaluronic acid, cactus and coconut extract, and Vitamin E and Pro-vitamin B5. Your face will thank you for the extra pampering!

Of course there is much more to proper skin care, so come in today and let the skin boss help you get set up with a personalized skin regiment. Healthy skin is beautiful skin!

Could these facial masks give you younger-looking skin or could they leave something to be desired?

You’ve seen them in magazine ads and TV commercials. Maybe your friends have even tried one, but what is all the hype about peel-off facial masksfacial masks? Could they actually improve the appearance of your skin or are there other treatment options that are more beneficial? Are they actually safe to use on all skin types? Our Baton Rouge and Prairieville, LA dermatologist, Dr. Ann Zedlitz, weights in on these at-home cosmetic treatments.

When you think of peels you most often think about the procedures performed in the dermatologist’s office that offers great results but also often requires a recovery time. Perhaps you’re trying to get vibrant results but without the downtime. We understand! Of course, this may mean that you are considering a peel-off facemask.

Yes, peeling off one of these masks can feel completely rewarding. You may also feel as if you are peeling away all those impurities, blackheads, dead skin and other issues along with it, but in most cases this is just hype. Of course, before you start to think that this trendy mask may be worthless there is a benefit to using them.

Some of these masks contain wonderful ingredients and antioxidants that your skin just loves to soak up and can improve your skin for the long run. If you choose a peel-off mask that contains more plant and vitamin-based ingredients you may find that they do improve skin damage caused by environmental toxins, pollutants, etc. So these masks are safe for most skin types, but if you are in doubt don’t hesitate to ask us before adding an at-home mask to your regime.

It’s important to note that you won’t look in the mirror and immediately see a major difference after a peel-off mask. While it can provide your skin with benefits they aren’t ones you will see. If you are looking for a way to target wrinkles, lines, acne scars, uneven skin tone and sunspots then you’ll want to talk to our Baton Rouge and Prairieville skin doctor about other cosmetic treatments that will offer more immediate and visible results than these at-home facial masks.

If you want to get a facial treatment that will offer amazing benefits and improve the appearance of your skin, then it’s time you talked to our skincare experts at Z Aesthetic Dermatology in Baton Rouge and Prairieville, LA about the treatments we offer.

Say goodbye to the effects of sun damage, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, and more.  Now, with the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)/BroadBand Light (BBL) procedure, gentle skin rejuvenation is now easier than ever. IPL leaves skin clearer, smoother, and younger in appearance by promoting cell growth and enhancing collagen production. BBL uses advanced dual-lamp technology with each lamp supplying half of the energy needed during treatment. Both IPL and BBL transforms red, blotchy skin into a radiant and glowing complexion.

IPL/BBL uses powerful, repetitive pulsed light to achieve skin improvement in a procedure commonly known as phototherapy. The procedure is sometimes called a photofacial, though it can be used on any area of the body.  IPL/BBL treatments are quick and comfortable with no downtime, though mild redness and swelling sometimes occur, but shortly disappear. Even better, IPL/BBL treatment is safe for all skin tones, PLUS, any area of your body can be treated. Best candidates are those suffering from blotchy, sun-damaged or discolored skin, or affected by large pores, freckles, or wrinkles. Although you will notice results after the first treatment, it may take a few months to see full results. IPL/BBL can also be repeated every 4 weeks until your individual series is complete, and you only need 1-2 yearly treatments for maintenance.

What does convenience, effective, and renewed have in common? It describes your experience with facial fillers, a non-surgical anti-aging technique for men and women that really works

Convenience.

We live in a fast-paced world with very little time to spare. Facial filler treatments allow you to get real results without the downtime. Facial fillers are products such as collagen, hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxyl apatite that rejuvenate facial skin.1 Fillers are safe to inject into areas of the face to add volume, smooth out lines, wrinkles, and deep creases. No need to miss work or meetings, you will be able to leave and return to your normal routine. You can look as good as you feel on your own time schedule!

Effective.

Wedding? Fancy ball? Reunion? Don't stress – that will only cause more fine lines! Because of their fast results, filler injections are an ideal choice for last-minute improvements before a big event. They can give you a youthful boost in a matter of days, where facial surgeries can take weeks to show results. Potential risks vary depending on the specific filler used. All fillers carry very mild risks that may include prolonged redness, mild bruising, and swelling, however side effects will gradually disappear.2

Renewed.

New year means a new you! We all face the aging process with fines lines, wrinkles, and such, but with facial fillers you can now hit the pause button on aging. Filler injections can replenish the volume lost from cheeks and forehead areas, fill in wrinkles or plump hollowed cheeks, and restore smoothness and fullness throughout the face.3 Fillers can restore youthfulness and renew your confidence.

Winter can be a hit or miss down south but now, it certainly feels like winter has finally arrived! Even though it's freezing outside, that doesn't mean you have to stay bundled up and hidden! It's time to get up, get out, and get hot by staying cool! It's never too early, or too late, to start preparing for the warm weather and Dr. Z can help! - Get that hot bod with CoolSculpt.

What is CoolSculpting? CoolSculpting is a non-invasive treatment that reduces fat from areas of the body
using freezing temperatures. Harvard University scientists noticed some children got dimples in their
cheeks when they ate popsicles, later realizing that the popsicles were freezing and eliminating small pockets of fat cells. The idea that cold can target fat cells, without damaging skin or surrounding tissue, was the insight behind Cryolipolysis®, the proven science on which the CoolSculpting procedure is based. 1

Where do the fat cells go? Once the treated fat cells are crystallized (frozen), your body processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells. Once the treated fat cells are gone, they’re gone for good.2

Who? Where? Why?  If you have areas of fat that are holding strong against diet & exercise, then this procedure is for YOU! - but understand that it is not a weight loss solution for obesity. The FDA has cleared CoolSculpting to address the flank areas ("love handles" or "muffin top"), thighs, abdomen, and chin/neck ("double chin").2

In clinical studies, cryolipolysis was shown to reduce subcutaneous fat at the treatment site by up to 25% after one treatment. Improvements were seen in 86% of treated subjects. At 73%, the patient satisfaction rate is higher than with other technologies used for noninvasive lipolysis. Most patients see 20-25% results after the first treatment.1 Multiple treatments are typically suggested, based on your body type and desired goal.
