About Z Aesthetic Dermatology: Natural Results, Honest Advice

There are a lot of aesthetic clinics in Baton Rouge and Prairieville. Most of them will be happy to book you a treatment today.

Z Aesthetic Dermatology is not that kind of practice. We're a physician-led dermatology clinic where the first priority is giving you an honest assessment, even when that means telling you something you might not want to hear. This page exists to answer the questions patients ask before they decide whether to call us.

The Practice in Plain Terms: What We Do and What We Don't

Z Aesthetic Dermatology is a board-certified dermatologist-led aesthetic practice with two locations in Louisiana:  Baton Rouge on Flanders Drive and Prairieville on Old Jefferson Highway.

We offer the full spectrum of non-surgical aesthetic treatments. What we're known for:

What we don't do:

  • Surgery. We are not a plastic surgery practice. We will tell you when surgery is the better answer and help you find the right surgeon.
  • Same-treatment-for-everyone protocols. Every plan at Z Aesthetic Dermatology is built for your anatomy and your goals.
  • Hidden fees. What you're quoted is what you pay.

Who Is Dr. Ann Zedlitz and Are Those Credentials Real?

Dr. Ann Zedlitz is the founder and medical director of Z Aesthetic Dermatology. Here are her credentials, and what each one actually means:

  • Board-Certified Dermatologist: Board-Certified Dermatologist: certification through the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Emergency Medicine, dual board certification in Dermatology and Emergency Medicine. This is verified independently through abms.org.
  • Expert Injector™ Top 3%: Expert Injector™ - Top 3%: this designation is awarded by Allergan Medical Institute, the educational division of Allergan Aesthetics (makers of Botox and Juvederm). It recognizes physician injectors in the top 3% of national injection volume and training, based on verified treatment data, not self-reporting.
  • Castle Connolly Top Doctor: Castle Connolly Top Doctor: Castle Connolly Top Doctors are nominated by peer physicians and reviewed by a physician-led research team. Doctors cannot pay for this recognition, it is peer-verified and independently awarded.
  • The Skin Boss™: Skin Boss™: this is a brand identity Dr. Z has built through 15+ years of clinical and cosmetic dermatology practice in the Baton Rouge and Prairieville communities. It reflects patient trust earned over time, not a purchased credential.

Our Core Position: Conservative by Choice, Not by Limitation

Z Aesthetic Dermatology practices natural, conservative rejuvenation, and specializes in the advanced correction of overdone results.

Dr. Z has a distinct philosophy about aesthetic medicine: the goal is never transformation. It's restoration. Her treatments are designed to make patients look like themselves — only more rested, more refreshed, and more confidently themselves.

What "conservative" means at Z Aesthetic Dermatology:

  • Less volume, placed more precisely, produces better results than more volume placed casually, Dr. Z's filler technique prioritizes anatomical accuracy over volume
  • Botox that allows natural movement is better than frozen, every neuromodulator protocol is calibrated to preserve the expressions that make you, you
  • A treatment that takes three sessions over six months to produce natural results is better than an aggressive single session that looks treated
  • When in doubt, less is more; and you can always add more at a follow-up

This conservative approach is also why patients come to Z Aesthetic Dermatology after bad experiences elsewhere. Dr. Z and our team are experienced in identifying what went wrong: whether it's too much filler, a neuromodulator placed incorrectly, or asymmetry from a prior treatment, and building a correction plan. This is an area where physician-level expertise matters enormously.

Will You Pressure Me to Book Treatments I Don't Need?

No. We understand that this is something every aesthetic practice claims, so let us explain what it actually looks like at Z Aesthetic Dermatology:

  • At your consultation, you'll receive a recommendation based on your anatomy and goals. If you want to think about it, no one will follow up with high-pressure calls or promotional emails designed to manufacture urgency.
  • If a treatment won't work for your concern, Dr. Z will tell you, and explain what will. This occasionally means recommending a less expensive option, or recommending nothing at all right now.
  • We recommend treatment series when they're clinically appropriate — not because a multi-session package produces more revenue. If a single session is the right answer for you, that's what you'll be told.
  • Our team does not work on commission. Treatment recommendations are not revenue-driven.

The patients who stay with Z Aesthetic Dermatology long-term, and there are many, do so because they trust that what we recommend is what we actually believe is right for them. That relationship is worth more to us than a single upsell.

How Does Pricing Work? Are There Hidden Fees?

Z Aesthetic Dermatology does not publish fixed treatment prices for most services, and we want to explain why that's not a transparency issue.

Injectable treatments are priced per unit. Your forehead requires a different number of units than someone else's forehead. Publishing a single "starting at $X" number creates a misleading expectation. What you're quoted at consultation is based on your specific anatomy, the number of units Dr. Z recommends for your goals, and the product selected.

What you can count on:

  • The quote you receive at consultation is what you pay. There are no add-on fees applied at the time of treatment.
  • Gratuities are not expected or solicited, you're receiving medical treatment, not a spa service.
  • We will tell you if a less expensive product achieves the same outcome for your specific concern.
  • Financing options are available (CareCredit, PatientFi), ask at consultation if cost timing is a concern.
  • Z Rewards earns cash toward future treatments on every visit. Manufacturer rewards (Allē, Aspire) can stack on top for additional savings.

If the price at consultation surprises you significantly compared to what you expected, please say so. We'd rather have that conversation than have you leave feeling like the experience wasn't what you anticipated.

Who Thrives at Z Aesthetic Dermatology — and Who Might Not

We're not the right practice for everyone, and we'd rather be honest about that than have patients book a consultation that isn't a fit.

You'll have a great experience at Z Aesthetic Dermatology if you:

  • Want a physician's perspective on your aesthetic care, not just a treatment menu
  • Prioritize natural, conservative results over maximum volume or dramatic transformation
  • Value a provider who will tell you no — or slow down — if a treatment isn't appropriate yet
  • Want one practice that coordinates your injectables, skin health, body contouring, and medical weight loss
  • Are looking for a long-term aesthetic relationship rather than a one-time treatment

You might not be the right fit if you:

  • Want the lowest possible price at every visit, we are competitively priced, but we're not the cheapest option in the market, and the physician-led model is part of what you're paying for
  • Are looking for aggressive volume or dramatic facial transformation as the primary goal
  • Prefer a practice that will always say yes to what you ask for, we will occasionally disagree with your initial request and explain why

When Will You Tell Me Surgery Is the Better Answer?

Non-surgical treatments have real limits. Dr. Z is direct about this, and it's one of the things patients most consistently mention as a differentiator.

Situations where Dr. Z typically recommends a surgical consultation:

  • Significant skin laxity on the face, neck, or jowls that has progressed beyond what collagen stimulation can meaningfully address
  • Ptosis (true drooping of the upper eyelid), a brow lift or eyelid surgery, not Ultherapy, is the appropriate treatment
  • Nasal concerns that require structural change rather than volume-based nonsurgical rhinoplasty
  • Patients who have tried non-surgical protocols and want outcomes that require surgery to achieve

When that conversation is appropriate, Dr. Z will have it directly and without ambiguity. She maintains relationships with trusted plastic surgery colleagues in the Baton Rouge area and can provide referrals. Telling you honestly when surgery is the better answer is not a loss for this practice, it's the kind of honesty that builds long-term patient relationships.

What Does 'Correcting Overdone Results' Mean?

Z Aesthetic Dermatology has developed a specific expertise in evaluating and correcting aesthetic treatments that didn't go as planned elsewhere.

This includes:

  • Overfilled cheeks or lips:  assessing whether dissolving, waiting, or strategic additions can restore balance
  • Botox placed incorrectly: creating brow heaviness, asymmetry, or an unnatural expression pattern that can be corrected with additional Botox in adjacent muscles
  • Tyndall effect from HA filler placed too superficially under the eyes: blue tinting that requires careful hyaluronidase treatment
  • Filler migration:  older filler that has shifted from original placement, requiring assessment and correction planning

This area of practice requires physician-level anatomical knowledge and aesthetic judgment. It's not something most aesthetic providers are equipped or willing to do. If you've had a treatment elsewhere that didn't produce the result you wanted, a consultation with Dr. Z to assess what happened and what can be corrected is always available.
