As a dermatologist, I’m always looking at the bigger picture when it comes to the health and appearance of my patients. Recently, many people have been turning to weight loss medications like Ozempic, and while I think these medications are a great tool for those looking to lose weight and improve their overall health, there’s one side effect that’s been getting a lot of attention: facial volume loss, or what some are calling “Ozempic Face.” “Ozempic Face” refers to the noticeable reduction in facial fat that can occur as a result of rapid weight loss. While shedding pounds can be a great achievement, it can sometimes leave the face looking hollow, gaunt, or less youthful. This happens because fat naturally cushions and shapes the face, and when weight is lost too quickly, the face can lose that fullness, leading to an aged or tired appearance. As someone who works closely with my patients to achieve both their aesthetic and health goals, I’m always eager to offer solutions for this. The good news is that the loss of facial volume can easily be addressed with dermal fillers. These non-invasive treatments are incredibly effective at restoring the volume that may be lost in the cheeks, under-eye area, and jawline.
